Great Start for Scarsdale Swimming Teams at Counties
Scarsdale's Hogan and Thompson Take First in 200 Individual Medley and 50 Yard Backstroke

Scarsdale Municipal Pool and Diving Team's Brett Hogan placed first in the 17-and under-200 Individual Medley and 12-and-under 50-Yard Backstroke Swimmer Bebe Thompson was successful in her event at the Westchester County Swimming Championships Monday at Rye Playland's pool.
Hogan only raced a preliminary, as his event had no final.
"I felt really comfortable in the water and it's very fun to win," he said of his 2:06.39 winning time.

Scarsdale Municipal Pool and Diving Team Head Coach Ingra DeNunzio was pleased with how her swimmers performed throughout the afternoon.
"It was amazing," she said. "I just had a bunch who made finals."

These include Thompson, Farrell Cooke, Matthew Ginsberg, Mitchell Barrow, and Hogan who did not race in the final but won first in his preliminary.
Thompson qualified for the finals with a preliminary time of 29.72 seconds winning the final at 30.00 seconds.
Cooke who finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly improved her 1:05.08 Preliminary time to 1:04.42 in the final.
Ginsberg finished sixth in the final of the boys race after a 57.08 preliminary time and an improved 56.84 in the final.
Barrow placed third in the 50-yard Backstroke with a preliminary time of 31.86 and 31.09 in the final.
The 200-meter relay team of Barrow, Cooke, Graham Novitch, and John Eforo finished seventh in the final with a time of 2:22:70.
Scarsdale Golf Club also participated with three swimmers in Sydney Vleck, Andrew Dell'Orto, and Liam McPhillips.
None of the three qualified for the finals, but head coach Michael Loeffler sees improvement for next year, especially in nine-year-old Vleck.
"Next year she'll be a very good competitor," he said.
Scarsdale is at the top of the leader board in boys competition at 41 above Lake Isle, Greeburgh, Orienta, Rye Golf, A.I. Ehrman, Chappaqua, and Bronxville.
Overall, in boys and girls combined scores, Scarsdale is in second place at 60 behind Lake Isle at 77, and in front of Rye Golf, Chappaqua, Greenburgh, Birchwood, Coveleigh, and Orienta.
