Today Friends of Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters President Susan Seal will speak at the Scarsdale Woman’s Club about the rescue of a beautiful quilt, made by members of the Club in 1975-76 for the bicentennial of the American Revolution. Presented to the then-owners of Odell House, it was never displayed in the house and was lost for almost 50 years. The Friends found it, bought it back and are now restoring it to go into the Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters Museum. The quilt will be on display during Seal’s talk.
Seal will also speak about the women who lived in Odell House in the 18th and 19th centuries. Their stories have never been researched or told to the public before because “well behaved women rarely make history.” She is working to highlight the historic significance of Westchester women.

Just wanted to provide an update on the subject bridge project.
- Over the past several months, major structural steel repairs have been ongoing and is nearing completion, the contractor is awaiting the fabrication of the remaining steel pieces in order to complete the repairs. The contractor anticipates taking delivery and performing the installation in the coming weeks.
- Installation of the new gas main is expected to begin in the next 1-2 weeks and is anticipated to take 2-3 weeks to complete.
- Reconstruction of the bridge’s Backwalls will follow the gas main install
- The Structural Deck will be constructed after the Backwall is built.
Please note that much of the work over the past few months has taken place under the bridge and may not have been visible to the traveling public. The contractor has performed its work in a manner as to minimize any impact to the public and the number of open travel lanes will remain the same as prior to the start of construction.
Please let me know if you have any questions, the Field Office will continue to provide the Town updates on the project as construction continues.
