Hollywood Glamour, Leading Movie Commentator, Touch of Mystery Come to Port Chester as Talk Cinema Begins Series

The best of indie Hollywood and new world cinema is coming to Port Chester on a regular basis because of an exciting alliance between Talk Cinema Inc. and AMC Loews Port Chester 14. The premiere event takes place Tuesday, Oct. 13th at 7 pm.

Founded in 1992, Talk Cinema holds events all over the country for film lovers who want to see new cinema first and be part of the cultural conversation. Talk Cinema audiences get to see new independent films first, and then get to discuss them with one of the world’s leading film critics and commentators, Harlan Jacobson, and other notable film professionals. Jacobson has interviewed top film stars from Matt Damon to George Clooney. His innumerable articles have appeared everywhere from The New York Times to USA Today and for the last 2 decades Jacobson has been the voice of cinema reason on WFUV-FM and WBGO-FM.

“Our goal is to magnify the film experience -- to give people the chance to experience going to a film early, to be part of the culture dialogue,” Jacobson says. “And sometimes we give people the opportunity to see new talent in their first breakout performances, on their way to super stardowm.” Special guests appear for the post screening talk back in person or via Skype.

Talk Cinema has been appearing at The Performing Arts Center in Purchase for the past 15 years. Drawn to Port Chester by the town’s increasing energy and rising reputation as a dining locale, Talk Cinema co-founders Susan and Harlan Jacobson plan to work with local political leaders, top restaurants and the Chamber of Commerce to promote the downtown and draw more people to it.
