Here's a look at what happened during the village court's March 31 session. Court is in session every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

Charges Reduced Against Alleged Thief

Christopher Casanova of Scarsdale was charged with grand larceny, a felony, and criminal trespassing and criminal tampering, both misdemeanors. On New Year's Eve, Casanova allegedly entered an apartment he was subletting on Garth Road, removed the tenant's belongings and changed the locks on the door.

On Wednesday, Casanova's charges were reduced to a single count of petit larceny, a misdemeanor, to which he pleaded guilty. He was slapped with a $225 fine, and a two-year order of protection was granted to the tenant, who was not identified in court documents.

Case of Alleged Dopey Driver Adjourned

Louis Maietta of Long Island is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs and marijuana possession. He was pulled over on the Bronx River Parkway Nov. 4 for speeding and was found to be intoxicated by the officer on the scene. A small amount of marijuana was found in Maietta's car. His case has been adjourned to May 19 so his lawyer and the DA's office can conference the case.

DWI Suspect Refused Breathalyzer

Vladimir Malkin of Tuckahoe is facing DWI charges after being pulled over on the Bronx River Parkway March 27. Malkin refused to take a breathalyzer test, which in New York State results in an automatic six-month license revocation. Malkin was assigned to Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities and his case was adjourned to April 21 pending a report from TASC.

DWI Case Settled

Daniel Zauderer was convicted of DWI Wednesday stemming from a traffic stop in July. He was originally charged with aggravated DWI, which carries steeper penalties, but the DA's office reduced the charge. He was sentenced to a $900 fine and six-month license revocation. He will also have to attend drunken driving impact courses offered by the DMV and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
