Letter to the Editor: Sleepy Hollow Mayor Ken Wray Releases His Budget for 2015-16
The proposal includes a small tax decrease for some residents.

To the Editor:
I am pleased to announce that the Mayor’s Budget for fiscal year 2015-16 has been released.
This draft budget will serve as the outline for budget discussions by the public and Board of Trustees over the next few weeks. NYS law requires that the Village’s official budget be adopted by April 30th.

As I wrote you in the State of the Village last month, I focused on four areas: property tax relief; ensuring that Village staffing needs are properly being met; beginning a comprehensive master plan; and enhancing programs for our seniors.

Here is what you will see in this budget:
- Property taxes for 1-3 family homes will be reduced by 2%;
-Staffing for departments have been vetted by our Department Heads and I added full time positions in Public Works, the Police Department and Village Hall;
-$100,000 in funding for the initial phase of a master plan;
-Funding for senior programs has been doubled.
I encourage you to come to our Board meetings on March 31st, April 7th and April 14th, so that the Board of Trustees and I will have your input as we work to adopt this budget.
Sincerely,
Ken Wray
Mayor
