"Organic Gardening at Home" class at Scarsdale Library on April 29th at 7:30pm
Max Apton, former Stone Barns farmer and instructor and founder of "The Farmer's Garden" will share the basics of getting a garden started.
Are you interested in growing organic produce in your own backyard? Farmer Max Apton will provide an introduction on how to design, build, and maintain a home vegetable garden at Scarsdale Library on Wednesday, April 29th at 7:30pm.
Topics covered will include:
- Picking the right size and placement of your garden
- Preparing the soil for planting
- Regionally appropriate crop selection and timing
- How and when to harvest popular garden plants
- Fun and education garden tasks for children

Presenter Bio:
Max Apton has pursued his passion for fresh food and soil on farms from Hawaii to Vermont. Most recently, Max served as the vegetable field manager at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture.
