Out Of The Frying Pan, Storms On The Way: Scarsdale's Weekend Weather

We give you the details on all the changes around Hartsdale.

SCARSDALE, NY — Another couple of days of heat creeping up toward or into the 90s. But there is good news as far as comfort is concerned. Humidity levels should be noticeably drier than Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has placed southern Westchester under a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Friday through Monday.

For Friday, there is a Heat Advisory in effect until 6 p.m. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night and Sunday with a chance of additional thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday. Wind gusts of at 58 mph are possible along with heavy rain and frequent lightning in thunderstorms.

"Anyone with outdoor plans on Sunday, should keep an eye on the details," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the local area under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms from Saturday evening through Sunday night, said the National Weather Service.

"Exactly where the temperature contrast zone sets up each day will determine the main path of the storms and areas at greatest risk for damage and disruptions from flooding and strong winds," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek.

Here's the NWS detailed weekend forecast for southern Westchester:

  • Today: Sunny, with a high near 93. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.
  • Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Northwest wind around 6 mph.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
  • Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Sunday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Sunday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.
