Paulin Wants to Clear up Confusion in Animal Rights Bill

Assemblywoman , D-88^th, wants to rid a proposed bill of any confusion.

Yesterday, Paulin said that amendments to the bill, which has stirred up have been filed in the Assembly in Albany and that the legislation is on hold pending additional review.

"The changes reflect Amy's wish to eliminate the misunderstanding surrounding the bill's language, as well as her genuine interest in making the bill as strong as possible," Paulin Spokeswoman Michelle Gewanter told Patch.

The bill, which Paulin said seeks to protect animals in shelters, has been the subject of fierce discussion over the past month. Paulin said she has reviewed all of the communication she received on the bill, both positive and negative, and used these public comments to improve the bill.

"There are a number of changes to the bill, including the removal of the "psychological pain" phrase since it has caused so much misunderstanding," the spokeswoman said. "In terms of a timeline, right now we are holding off on the measure as we evaluate it further."

Paulin's district includes Scarsdale, Pelham, Eastchester, part of White Plains and part of New Rochelle.
