Scarsdale Eastern Mountain Sports To Close, Parent Company Declares Bankruptcy

SCARSDALE, NY — Two Eastern Mountain Sports stores in the Hudson Valley will be closing down after the parent company declared bankruptcy, according to documents from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

The sporting goods store Eastern Mountain Sports will also be shutting the following locations:

• 693 White Plains Post Rd., Scarsdale
• 2521 South Rd., Poughkeepsie

Eastern Outfitters LLC, the corporate parent of Eastern Mountain Sports and Bob's, a clothing and footwear chain, declared bankruptcy in February and will be acquired by an affiliate of Sports Direct International PLC, based in the U.K.

In total the company will be shutting down 48 out of 86 stores in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
