First-ever UJA-Federation of New York Scarsdale Family Olympics Raises Funds for UJA's Sports for Youth Initiative
Over 145 people came together to participate in the first-ever UJA-Federation of New York Scarsdale Family Olympics on Sunday, May 19th, 2019 at the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in White Plains. The event supported UJA’s Sports for Youth Initiative which brings the life-changing impact of participating in sports to kids of every age, athletic ability and background.
Attendees had the opportunity to hear from the parent of a child who participates in an after-school sports program funded by Sports for Youth, and run through Westchester Jewish Community Services, UJA’s largest nonprofit partner in Westchester, and the transformative impact the program has had on her son.
“Beyond the Sports for Youth initiative, UJA partners with hundreds of nonprofits that do all kinds of amazing work to help people directly including feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, providing services to people with disabilities and the elderly, and so much more. Where there’s a need, UJA is able to help at a moment's notice,” commented event co-chair Ben Brucker of Scarsdale.
