Scarsdale H.S. Science Olympiad Team Heading To Statewide Competition

Students win first place in Lower Hudson Valley regional competition.

Members of the Scarsdale High School Science Olympiad Team are getting set to compete in a statewide science competition after taking first place in the Lower Hudson Valley regional competition.

The team finished on top during a competition at Byram Hills High School, where 32 teams competed.

The state competition is set for March 30 and 31 at Canisius College in Buffalo.

New York State Science Olympiad 

The organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of science education in grades 5-12, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science and technology.

These goals are achieved by providing opportunities for teams of students to participate in 22 regional and state Science Olympiad tournaments across New York State. Information from articles and studies that have measured the impact of Science Olympiad on students may be seen here. NYSSO also promotes the inclusion of Science Olympiad activities in classroom curricula and provides teacher training at seminars and an annual coaches workshop.
