
SCARSDALE, NY - A Scarsdale High School student won top honors recently at the New York State Mathematics League Competition.
Richard Xu got a perfect score on all 10 individual questions and won the tie-breaker round.
Math students from around New York gathered at Penfield High School in Penfield for the competition.

Forty-one students from Westchester competed, including seven from Scarsdale: Harry Chalfin, Alan Chung, Aadi Kapur, Dexin Li, Xu, Tom Zhang, and Maxwell Zhao.

Harry Chalfin received the Berman-Rockow award. This award is for the Westchester team member “who exhibits a high degree of enthusiasm for the kind of problem-solving called for in mathematical contests, engenders a palpable espirit d’corps among his/her fellow mathletes, and understands what it means to be a team player.”
Alan Chung, Xu, and Maxwell Zhao were honored as high scoring students for the team.
