Scarsdale Nurse Receives State Association Award
The Future Nurse Leader Awards were recently handed out.

Scarsdale, NY — The American Nurses Association-New York recently introduced 28 recipients of its 2016 Future Nurse Leader Awards.
Started in 2014 to recognize the high quality of students graduating from nursing schools in New York and foster engagement and ongoing professional development, the award is given to graduating students in honor of their scholarship, professional dedication and commitment to community service, organizers said.

One of the award winners was Scarsdale resident Isabel Faringer-Perez, who graduated in May from Stony Brook University School of Nursing in Stony Brook, according to information provided by the association.

Her nominator wrote, “In addition to her outstanding academic and clinical abilities, Faringer-Perez has made significant contributions to our university and community.”
She served as president of the Stony Brook Chapter of the National Student Nurses’ Association and founded a newsletter, the SBSNA Insider, to raise the organization’s profile.

Faringer-Perez also served on the board of directors of the Nursing Students' Association of New York State and was an active member of the Stony Brook University Pre-Nursing Society, mentoring students considering nursing as a profession.

The Future Nurse Leaders were nominated by their schools of nursing as outstanding students who embody the ethics and values of nursing. Each Future Nurse Leader received a certificate of recognition; a copy of the new book, Nightingale’s Legacy: The Evolution of American Nurse Leaders by Sue Johnson, PhD, RN, NE-BC; and complimentary membership in the American Nurses Association and ANA-NY for a year.
