Scarsdale Police Blotter: Car Break-Ins, Stolen Briefcases and Lost Objects
This week in Scarsdale, two cars were broken into at the Scarsdale Alternative School, a stolen briefcase was found on Kingston Road and cell phones, car keys and wallets were both lost and found.

Monday, Jan. 7
10: 18 a.m.— A Good Samaritan reported to police headquarters to turn in a lost wallet.
10:39 a.m.— A Garth Road resident arrived at Dispatch to report that she had lost her wallet somewhere in the Village the previous Thursday evening. The wallet contained two credit cards, one debit card and a New York State driver’s license.

10:52 a.m.— A caller noticed the scent of fire emanating from a Hamilton Road residence. Police contacted the Scarsdale Fire Department, who arrived on scene and did not need patrol assistance.
12:28 p.m.— An elderly, possibly disoriented male was seen walking northbound on 1216 Post Road and 80 Huntington Ave. Police arrived on scene, but did not observe any pedestrians matching the man’s description in the surrounding vicinity.

1:38 p.m.— Police were called after a Sheldrake Road homeowner noticed that landscapers working across the street from him were placing snow on the roadway. Patrol arrived on scene, and did not observe any parties shoveling snow into the street. The complainant talked with police, and he stated that his neighbor, who resided several houses away from him, had employed the landscapers. Police spoke with the complainant’s neighbor, and ordered him to warn his workers against shoveling snow into the street or a Village code summons would be issued.
2:24 p.m.— An Aspen Road resident reported to police headquarters after someone stole a check from her residence and tried to cash it for $7,000.
8:58 p.m.— A computer bag was stolen out of a gray 2007 Honda at the Scarsdale Alternative School after an unknown party broke one of the vehicle’s windows.
9 p.m.— Another call arrived to police headquarters from the Scarsdale Alternative School after an unknown person damaged a vehicle’s window.
9:42 p.m. — An incident report was filed after a walk-in complainant reported that someone had stolen their front license plate from his gray 1997 Lincoln Town Car while it was parked at 1 Depot Place and 1 Popham Road.
8:57 p.m.— A set of car keys was found on 1001 Post and 60 Crane roads.
Tuesday, Feb. 8
1:13 p.m.— An accident was reported between a blue 2009 Honda and a blue 2001 Toyota Camry on 165 Gaylord Road.
2:50 p.m.— A caller reported a past burglary at her Brewster Road home.
3:15 p.m.— A Secor Road resident reported that they had found a big white dog missing a leash.
5:42 p.m.— A caller reported a Christmas tree laying in the middle of the road in front of the French American School on 85 Palmer Ave. and 217 Mamaroneck Road. Police arrived on scene, and did not find any trees or yard debris in the street. They did, however, discover a large cardboard box in the middle of the roadway and moved it to the side of the road.
5:57 p.m.— Both the Scarsdale Police and Fire departments canvassed 74 Mamaroneck and 35 Murray Hill roads after a caller reported that there was a live wire sparking in the intersection. No errant wires were discovered in the surrounding vicinity.
7:23 p.m.— A male Kingston Road resident discovered a briefcase near his house in an area normally used to dispose of waste. The man turned turned the briefcase over to police to determine whether it was lost property. Upon investigation, police discovered that the briefcase had been stolen on Feb. 7 from a vehicle in White Plains.
8:10 p.m. — A woman lost her cell phone, a silver Verizon Blackberry Curve, while walking near her residence on Walworth Avenue and Gilmore Court. She was unable to find it while searching in the above area, and later reported it missing to police.
Wednesday, Jan. 9
12:33 a.m.— A Secor Road homeowner called police after an anonymous white four-door Sedan pulled into her driveway and proceeded to drive up and down the nearby street. Police canvassed the area with negative results.
7:32 a.m.— A caller from Burgess Road reported cars using his driveway to make U-turns. One U-turn violation was issued by police.
