Scarsdale Police Blotter: Icy Roads, Rabid Raccoons and Active Arrest Warrants
This past weekend in Scarsdale, icy roads caused cars to veer into snowbanks, a homeless man with an active Scarsdale arrest warrant reported to police quarters in Sullivan County and an injured raccoon limped down Brookby Road.

Friday, Feb. 4
1:48 p.m. — A Popham Road resident filed a criminal complaint at Scarsdale Police headquarters regarding bounced checks.
2:15 p.m.— A black 2007 Honda and a gray 2009 Subaru got into an accident on 44 Brewster and 42 Olmsted roads.

2:17 p.m. – Police notified the Highway Department after a caller reported that the Village’s icy sidewalks were hazardous to pedestrians. Police canvassed the area and observed a particularly icy patch in front of Tengda Asian Bistro on 56 Garth Road. Patrol attempted to notify the owner with negative results. Police placed yellow caution tape around the icy area until the restaurant’s owner could be informed of sidewalk conditions.
9:36 p.m.— A caller reported suspicious activity after noticing that a vehicle had been parked in front of 17 Herkimer Road for about an hour, with numerous individuals entering and exiting the vehicle. Police arrived, and noted that the car was legally parked and unoccupied.

Saturday, Feb. 5
12:32 a.m.— Loud, continuous barking noises were reported as lasting for over twenty minutes from a residence on Sprague and Clarence roads. Police arrived and canvassed the area, but all appeared to be in order.
10:15 p.m.— Two vehicles skidded off a roadway into a snow bank on 1 Garden and 45 Mamaroneck roads. Police notified highway personnel to salt the icy road before the stuck vehicles was finally towed out of the snow by R&D Towing. Neither vehicle was hurt from the accident. Sergeant Siciliano of the Scarsdale Police department arrived on scene and contacted the highway department supervisor, who assured all involved parties that he would deploy a truck to res-salt the road.
2:11 p.m.— Robert Williams, a Mount Vernon resident with an active arrest warrant issued by Scarsdale Justice Court, responded to Liberty Police Department to request aid in finding a homeless shelter. The warrant was not executable, as Liberty Police Department is located in Sullivan County. However, P.O Gonzalez of the Liberty Police Department stated that he would notify Scarsdale Detectives after identifying which homeless shelter Williams would be staying in that evening. Williams was later notified of his active arrest warrant and was requested to respond to the Scarsdale Police Department to turn himself in.
3:18 p.m.— A taxi driver observed a sick raccoon while driving down Brookby Road. Police canvassed the area, but not raccoon was observed.
4:51 p.m.- A Brookby Road resident echoed a taxi driver’s earlier concerns when she called police to report a sick, potentially rabid, raccoon on her deck. Police arrived and observed that the raccoon was limping before trailing the wounded animal through the street and into a wood area. No further police action was taken.
Sunday, Feb. 6
12:01 p.m.— A driver operating a vehicle with a suspended license was stopped on 1216 Post Road and 80 Huntington Ave.
12:56 p.m.— Scarsdale police received a complaint that a black SUV with a possible New York license plate was erratically driving near 98 Brewster and Fenimore roads. Patrol canvassed the area, located the vehicle and followed it for two miles. The driver was issued a summons after being observed talking on his cell phone and straying onto the left side of the road.
1:38 p.m.— A brown dog belonging to a Tunstall Road resident was seen roaming loose in the area. Patrol arrived, but they did not find the canine.
