Freading offers access to titles on a simultaneous basis, thereby eliminating holds on books, and includes titles from smaller publishers, giving more options and faster results to patrons who might not be looking for a specific new and popular title, but want to read something immediately. Once downloaded, books are available to the reader for a two-week period and can be renewed for an additional two weeks.
There is no cost to download ebooks; rather, they are purchased using “tokens” as currency. Each patron is automatically allotted five per week, and books cost between one and four tokens. Unused tokens roll over for up to four weeks.
