Scarsdale Public Library To Hold Third in Series of e-Book Open Houses

Librarians to provide instruction on accessing the collection of downloadable titles.

The Scarsdale Library will hold its third open house offering instruction on the use of e-books and the library's Overdrive service, which makes available downloadable e-books to Scarsdale Library cardholders. The session will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the library's Scott Room.

Those attending the open house will receive one-on-one or small group assistance on downloading Overdrive books to their personal e-reader. The librarians are familiar with most e-book devices, including Kindles, iPads, iPhones and Nooks. Patrons should bring their own e-reader to the open house.

"Our residents are eager to use the library's downloadable collection, but may need a little assistance to get started. We know that hands-on training will make all the difference," said Scarsdale Library Director Elizabeth Bermel.

The two previous open houses have been a great success, and the library has seen significant increases in Overdrive use over the last few months. The library will continue to offer these workshops regularly as long as the public needs them. Those unable to attend the open house can schedule an appointment at the Reference Desk at the library or by calling 914-722-1300 ext.2.
