Scarsdale: Stop the Sprinklers So Some Can Shower
A water pressure problem has left some Scarsdale residents without a mighty enough stream to shower in the mornings. The Board of Trustees advocates local residents cut down on sprinkler times others can clean up before the commute.

The Village of Scarsdale is having water pressure problems, and it might just be your fault.
"We are having some issues with water pressure in certain parts of the Village, and it is occuring largely in the morning and largely because of peoples' sprinkers. I would like people to be sensitive to that, and try and follow some of the voluntary water guidelnes that we had established over the last few summers," said Mayor Carolyn Stevens at last night's Board of Trustees meeting.
According to Mayor Stevens, there have been numerous problems since the warm weather began with regards to low water-pressure in peoples' homes

She explained some the larger water issues that contribute to the slowdown, and offered simple steps to ensure everybody gets a morning shower, not just the thirsty green lawns.
"We have a couple of water issues; one is we're still working on one of our pumping stations; [also] the City of New York is doing some work at the [Kensico] Dam and is therefore reducing the water that is coming into the village; add that to the fact that evrybody seems to set their sprinkler systems on in the morning, and so people are experiencing real water problems. But it is difficult to deal with the decrease on our system in general," she said.

The most effective and immediate solution would be to follow the Village's guidelines for Voluntary Water Restrictions (see the attached plan) which suggests, by neighborhood, that certain areas only sprinkle the lawns on certain days of the week.
