Scarsdale Student Wins World Maths Day Award
The Edgewood student took home a medal from the competition.
Scarsdale fifth grader Deborah Zhang recently won a gold medal in the World Education Games.
The 10-year-old student at came in 8th place for the U.S. in math for the 8-10 year-old age group.
"Deborah practiced for 30 to 45 minutes a day at school and also practiced at home," her teacher, Marilyn Blackley said. "She played thousands of games during the practice–19,821 to be precise!"

As part of World Maths Day in March, the youngster competed against students from across the world during this virtual contest.
"As a teacher I can see how many games my students have played, the number of correct answers and the percentage improvement they've made," Blackley said. "The children just love it! They're so motivated and excited and it seriously improves their mental math computation and their spelling."
