Senator Oppenheimer Urges Women To Get Mammogram This Mother's Day

The senator is promoting breast cancer prevention in annual mammography campaign.

(D-Mamaroneck) urged all women to give themselves the gift of peace of mind this Mother’s Day by scheduling an appointment for a mammogram.

Along with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, the Senator is promoting getting tested for breast cancer in their annual Mother’s Day mammography campaign.

“Mammograms are so important because they offer the greatest opportunity for  early detection and a full recovery,” stated the Senator. “And since 95 percent of all mammograms prove to be normal, there is no reason to fear or avoid being tested.”

“I myself am a breast cancer survivor,” said Oppenheimer, whose cancer was detected more than 20 years ago during a routine mammogram.

“For over 30 years, the Hotline has provided women and men with the support they need to combat and survive breast cancer," the senator said. "I thank the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program for all of the outstanding services they provide to the citizens of New York, and join them in supporting efforts to find a cure for this devastating disease.”

All services provided by the Hotline are free.
