ShopRite Scarsdale Joins Food Donation Effort

Scarsdale's ShopRite contributed over $7,000 to the Feeding Our Neighbors effort, which netted the equivalent of almost 500,000 meals.

SCARSDALE, NY — Scarsdale's ShopRite store joined other branches in the fundraising campaign Feeding Our Neighbors, raising $7,249 for the effort. The campaign netted $96,500, meaning there will be 421,000 in meals available to those in need because of their efforts.

The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York runs Feeding Our Neighbors, which lasts for only two weeks, but yields great results thanks to charitable Hudson Valley residents.

“We are so very fortunate that ShopRite, their employees, and customers embrace a commitment to giving back to the community in which they live and work,” said Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, according to a press release. “They are outstanding community partners whose generosity makes a positive difference in the lives of others," he said, adding that the food and funds go a long way to feeding our neighbors.

ShopRite has been participating in the program for four years, the press release says, and has collected over $405,000 and over 82,000 pounds of non-perishables from charitable customers — the equivalent of over 1.7 million meals — to be donated throughout the Archdiocese.
