Thunderstorms Possible: Scarsdale's Work Week Weather

Above-normal temps as the January thaw sets in, then there's a twist for Hartsdale.

SCARSDALE, NY — A wild January thaw is underway, to the detriment of those living near the Hudson Valley's ice-jam-prone creeks and streams, and to the chagrin of those who love ice-fishing and cross-country skiing. Plus, a storm is coming early in the week, with heavy rain and gusty winds.

“After a warm weekend, we’ll see the work week get off to an unsettled start,” said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

The potential for isolated thunderstorms will develop on Tuesday across the tri-state area, according to the National Weather Service.

“At this time, rainfall does appear to be as heavy as that which occurred during Jan. 11 and 12,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said, citing the urban, flash and ice-jam flooding that occurred across the Northeast.

Temperatures, which could reach 15-30 degrees above normal, then return to more seasonable levels in the middle of the week — meaning highs in the 30s. But they'll rise again toward the end of the week.
