Two New Haven residents, Twan Singleton, 39, and Anthony Smith, 39, were arrested by Westchester County Police and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after they were pulled over for speeding on the Hutchinson River Parkway on Saturday morning.

At 4:45 a.m., Officer Emil Garcia noted a 2011 Ford Taurus speeding on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway at approximately 85 miles per hour. Garcia pulled the vehicle’s driver over at Weaver Street, and smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, along with the scent of marijuana emanating from the car’s interior.

Singleton was arrested after a computer check revealed that his license was suspended. While impounding the car, Garcia discovered a loaded Hi-Point 9 mm handgun concealed in a gap in the engine compartment, along with a small bag of marijuana.
