HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
Big Move Volunteers
Child Care Council of Westchester is getting ready for its big move—and it's seeking volunteers who can roll up their sleeves, channel their inner Tetris champions, and tackle some packing, shifting, and shredding! Volunteers must be 18+ and able to lift 15 pounds. Time is flexible.
Date: 4/6-4/10 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; flexible schedule

Volunteers are needed to help pack and distribute food to neighbors who live on the margins and who struggle to provide for their families. Food is packed and sorted during the week and then distributed on weekends.
Date: 4/8 from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4/11 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; Wednesdays and Saturdays

Volunteer Career Counselors are needed to share their professional background and skills with the clients and staff at My Sisters' Place, which provides support for survivors of domestic violence. Career Counselors can help with resume and cover letters, mock interviews, workplace readiness, and more. Volunteers must be 18+ and complete a mandatory training.

Neighbors Link's Community Law Practice is seeking a handwriting expert witness who can compare handwriting samples to determine authenticity, identify forgery, or establish authorship in cases involving disputed documents. Volunteers must be 25+.
