Wednesday is Walk to School Day in Scarsdale, the district announced.
Part of a nationwide effort, the program is designed to promote healthy activities and building community, and Scarsdale teachers will arrive early and meet students.

Walk to School Day
The Scarsdale Middle School Physical Education Department will promote the Annual Walk to School Day on October 8, 2014

Teachers will arrive early to meet students on their way to school. Carpooling and bus transportation is highly encouraged for those living further away from school or for early morning rehearsals. See below for the safe community & “Designated Starting Areas” where SMS staff members will be meeting students as they walk to school.
Walk to School day is an annual event to promote the following:
- Physical Activity
- Teaching safe pedestrian skills
- Awareness of how walkable the Scarsdale community is
- Concern for the environment
- Reducing traffic congestion and speed near schools
- Sharing faculty time with our students

Metro Deli:
This has been a popular spot over the past few years. If students choose to eat breakfast at the Metro location, they are to bring their own money and get there in time for a 7:20 am departure to school.
