War Dogs To Be Celebrated Sunday At Hartsdale Pet Cemetery

A combat veteran will speak about the bond he has with his military working dog.

HARTSDALE, NY — Hartsdale Pet Cemetery will hold its 28th annual memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 11. The public is invited to hear Marine Corps veteran Matthew Plumeri talk about the bond he shares with his 11-year-old partner Gulliver, a Vizsla, during their deployment in Afghanistan.

Also speaking will be Nancy Schiesari, who produced and directed “Canine Soldiers,” a documentary about the military working dogs and their handle, according to Modern Dog magazine.

Hartsdale Pet Cemetery is the oldest operating pet cemetery in the world and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
