1 Hurt In Crash On William Floyd Parkway Thursday Night: Police

SHIRLEY, NY — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley last night, Suffolk police said.

The crash happened at the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Surrey Circle at around 9:17 p.m., according to police. One of the drivers, a 23-year-old woman from Coram, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, police said.

The roadway was closed for a period of time while police investigated.

A Long Island Rail Road train was delayed at the Yaphank station on Thursday night after a vehicle hit a patch of ice and slid into a pole at the crossing on Moriches-Middle Island Road at around 10:15 p.m., a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman said.
