11-Year-Old Girl On E-Bike Thrown To Ground After Striking Car In Mastic Beach: Police

MASTIC BEACH, NY — An 11-year-old girl riding an electric bicycle struck a car and was hurt in Mastic Beach on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

The girl, who is from Mastic Beach, was riding the bicycle westbound on Queen Road, at the intersection of Cypress Drive at around 7:30 p.m., when she struck a 2017 Ford sedan, traveling southbound on Cypress, driven by a 32-year-old Connecticut man, according to police.

The girl was thrown from the bicycle, and she was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man was issued summonses for disobeying a stop sign and excessive speed, according to police.

In another incident involving an e-bike nearby in Mastic, a 20-year-old Mastic woman drove an E-bike through the intersection of Mastic Boulevard and Mastic Road and grazed a motor vehicle, but was not hurt at around 9 p.m., police said.
