Man Who Assaulted 2 Elderly Women In Mastic Beach Home Burglaries Arrested: SCPD

Two women, ages 78 and 75, were assaulted during separate home break-ins, police say. The man was arrested Saturday, police say.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — The man accused of assaulting two elderly women during a pair of home burglaries in Mastic Beach was arrested Saturday, Suffolk police said.

Derrick Clancy, 42, who is homeless, entered a Mastic Beach home through an unlocked window on Oct. 10 and assaulted a 78-year-old woman around 4 a.m., police said.

On Oct. 17, Clancy broke a window and entered another Mastic Beach home, assaulting a 75-year-old woman around 12:40 a.m., police said.

Both women were alone at the time of the assaults, police said. They were brought to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Police offered a $5,000 Fast Cash Reward for information that led to Clancy's arrest, police said. The reward will be issued within seven days of his arrest.

Clancy was unarmed in both incidents, police said.
