Officer, Motorist Hurt In William Floyd Parkway Crash In Shirley: Police

The officer's marked cruiser was turning with its lights and siren activated when it was struck by a Kia, Suffolk police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — An officer was one of two women hurt in a crash on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley on Tuesday morning, Suffolk police said.

A marked unit with its lights and sirens activated was making a left from McGraw Street into the northbound lane, when it was struck by a southbound 2024 Kia, according to police.

Both women were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

It happened at around 9:15 a.m.

The aftermath of the crash included snarled traffic that prompted motorists to take to social media questioning what had happened.
