MASTIC BEACH, NY — A Mastic man was charged with DWI Friday night after Suffolk police say his vehicle rear-ended a pick-up truck in Mastic Beach.
At about 8:12 p.m., the man was driving a 2019 Ford northbound on Mastic Road when he crashed his vehicle into the back of a 2001 Chevrolet pickup that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Quay Avenue, according to police.
The woman driving the pickup truck pulled her vehicle over, and the man continued to drive forward, left the roadway, and crashed the Ford into a utility pole, police said.
The man, 64, from Mastic, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was treated at NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk in East Patchogue for a non-life-threatening injury, according to police.
The woman declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.
