3 Rescued From Surf At 1 TIme At Smith Point Beach: Officials

SMITH POINT, NY — Three people were rescued from the water at the Smith Point County Park beach Wednesday, officials said.

According to Mastic Beach Fire Department officials, the three were pulled from the surf by Suffolk County ocean lifeguards at about 3:20 p.m.

All three survived but their condition was not immediately known.

The National Weather Service said a "high rip current risk", with "life-threatening" rip currents, was in effect across southern Suffolk County through Wednesday evening.
