• 924-Megawatt Sunrise Wind Farm Off Shirley Coast 'Making Good Progress': Official (patch.com) — Residents in Shirley are watching the massive Sunrise Wind project off their shoreline move forward again after a federal lease suspension briefly halted work. Developers say 20 turbines are now installed and onshore electrical infrastructure is largely done, though it's unclear if power will start flowing by October 2026 as once hoped. When finished, the offshore wind farm is expected to power hundreds of thousands of New York homes.
