Bicyclist Airlifted To Stony Brook After Shirley Crash: Police
The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the vehicle was uninjured, police said.
SHIRLEY, NY — A bicyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after he collided with a vehicle in Shirley on Monday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
The man, whose name was not released, had been riding a bicycle on the sidewalk of Montauk Highway, between William Floyd Parkway and Camp Upton Road, when he rode off of the sidewalk into traffic and struck the side of a vehicle just before 1 p.m., police said.
He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, said police, adding that the man driving the vehicle, was not injured. No tickets were issued.
