Police ID Boy Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash On Sunrise Highway
Suffolk police are asking for the public's help to find a driver who fled after striking 7-year-old Sadq Aljomi in Mastic.
MASTIC, NY — Police identified the 7-year-old boy killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Sunrise Highway Sunday night as Sadq Aljomi.
The crash occurred at 10:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes between exits 58 and 59 in Mastic, Suffolk police said.
Sadq wandered out of his Mastic home unattended and onto the highway where he was struck by a vehicle, police said. The driver fled.

The boy was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
