Center Moriches Man Involved In 2-Vehicle Crash In Shirley Arrested For DWAI After Bolting: Police

It happened on Montauk Highway at around 7:30 p.m., Suffolk police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A 21-year-old Center Moriches man was arrested after he left the scene of a crash in Shirley on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

He was driving a 2023 Kia westbound on Montauk Highway, near Grand Avenue, when it crashed into another vehicle, and he ran from the scene at around 8 p.m., according to police.

The 27-year-old man driving the Kia was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The 21-year-old was arrested a short time later and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury and driving while ability impaired by alcohol or Drugs.
