VIDEO: Dog Rescued After Falling Into Cesspool In Shirley: Police
UPDATE: Officers stretched a ladder across the hole, and used a catch pole to hoist the dog out, Suffolk police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A small dog that fell into a collapsed backyard cesspool was rescued on Friday morning, authorities said.
The cesspool collapsed at a location on Concord Drive at around 7:15 a.m., and the dog fell into it, according to officials.
The dog wasn't submerged, only stuck in sewage, so two officers stretched a ladder across the hole, and used a catch pole to hoist the dog out, a police spokesperson said.
