Dog Struck And Injured In Apparent Hit-And-Run In Mastic: Police
The dog was found "with injuries consistent of being hit by a car," Suffolk police say.
MASTIC, NY —Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers are investigating an apparent hit-and-run in which a dog was hurt in Mastic on Sunday, Suffolk police said.
A good Samaritan saw the Shih Tzu on Hampton Road at around 2:45 p.m. "with injuries consistent of being hit by a car," and the owner, who lived nearby, was found, according to police.
The dog was taken to a vet for treatment, police said.

It was reported by a neighbor on social media that the dog had a collapsed lung and broken leg.
Police did not have any further information.
