The William Floyd School District also posted on social media, explaining that due to the house fire on Van Buren Street and its close proximity to William Floyd Elementary School, John S. Hobart Elementary School and the William Floyd Learning Center, outdoor recess and outdoor physical education classes at those buildings were canceled for Tuesday.
"The local fire departments are on scene, along with the police department, and they are working to extinguish the fire. All students and staff are safe, we are just keeping students inside as a precaution and to avoid any unnecessary smoke inhalation," the district said.
