"Real winners of the game" are the Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center. - Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison of Child Advocacy Challenge

LONG ISLAND, NY — There might have been a winner to this basketball game, but in the end it didn't matter — both teams were playing for the same good cause.

Suffolk County police officers squared-off against a squad of New York State troopers at Island Garden Arena in West Hempstead to support the Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center, a facility for child victims of physical and sexual abuse. It has a multi-disciplinary team that uses a child-friendly environment to support and protect children, non-offending parents, and other family members, police said.
