LI Man Critically Injured After Crash With Dump Truck

The crash took place Monday morning, police say.

BROOKHAVEN, NY — A Mastic man was critically injured in a Brookhaven crash early Monday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place at 6:25 a.m. on Montauk Highway, just east of South Country Road.

Douglas Finney, 34, was driving a 2010 Hyundai eastbound when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a 2001 Kenworth dump truck, police said.

Finney was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition; the driver of the dump truck, John Pannhurst, 70, of Bellport, was not injured, police said.

The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check; the dump truck was inspected at the scene by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers, police said.
