Long Island Couple Found Dead In Possible Double Suicide: Police

Suffolk detectives "believe one or both died from self-inflicted injuries," police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A boyfriend and girlfriend were found dead from gunshot wounds inside their Long Island home Thursday night, and possibly one or both died by suicide, Suffolk police said.

Officers responded to the couple's Park Circle home after a 911 call from the address just before 5 p.m., police said. Officers found Destiny Leinfus, 20, and Gavin Bifalco, 19, dead from gunshot wounds.

Detectives were investigating who fired the shots, and they "believe one or both died from self-inflicted injuries," according to a news release from Suffolk police's Public Information Bureau late Thursday night.

The pair lived with Leinfus' parents, police said.

Autopsies will be performed by the Suffolk County medical examiner's office.
