Long Island Woman Sexually Assaulted In Home Invasion: Police

A pair of males went inside of her home at about 4 p.m. She was taken to a local hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries," cops say.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A woman was sexually assaulted after two males broke into her home in Mastic Beach on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Two "males" went inside of her home and found her at about 4 p.m., said police, adding that one of them "sexually and physically assaulted her," and then the pair ran away with "cash and property."

The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.

The pair were described as black, and one was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants with a white stripe, while the second was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and light-colored pants, according to police.

Police did not release any further details.

Suffolk's Special Victims Section is investigating the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (631) 852-8791 Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 Fast Cash reward for information leading to arrests in the case. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
