"We know that you will continue to make all of Longwood proud.": Brookhaven Town Councilman Michael Loguercio

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — Longwood High School senior Wallace "Wally" Wilson III has been honored with the New York State High School Football Coaches Association 12th Man Award, Brookhaven Town Councilman Michael Loguercio said.
The 12th Man Award is given to an athlete who overcame adversity or medical hardship, and at 14 years old, Wilson was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder, Graves’ Disease, according to Loguercio. Wilson overcame "many personal health challenges," and was able to return to Longwood High School as a junior, join the varsity football team, and start each game of the season, Loguercio said.
"We wish you continued success in all your future endeavors and we know that you will continue to make all of Longwood proud," he added.
