Man, 19, ‘Seriously Injured’ In 2-Car Crash In Middle Island: PD

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A 19-year-old man was seriously injured in a two-car crash in Middle Island on Wednesday night, Suffolk County police said.

Police said that at about 10:42 p.m. Gabriel Casado was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze southbound on County Road 21, about 200 feet north of Longwood Road when the sedan crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Impala.

Casado, of Middle Island, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center for treatment of “serious injuries,” police said. The driver of the Impala, John Desposito, 29, of Shirley, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of “minor injuries,” according to police.

Both cars were impounded for standard vehicle safety checks, police said.

Seventh Squad detectives are continuing to investigate, and are asking anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
