Man, 59, Struck By Car And Killed Near LIRR Track In Shirley
He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
SHIRLEY, NY — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car near the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Shirley on Monday night, Suffolk police said.
Frank Brandimarte was crossing William Floyd Park Parkway from west to east when he was struck by a southbound 2016 Honda Civic driven by Aristides Baires at about 9:30 p.m., said police.
Brandimarte, 59, of Shirley, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, said police, adding that Baires, 28, of Shirley, was not injured in the crash.

Baires’ Honda was impounded for a safety check, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the 7th Squad at 631-852-8752.
