He met up with two men over the OfferUp app to buy a car, and one waved a knife before the pair made off with his cash, cops say.

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A man was robbed at knifepoint after he used the OfferUp app to meet up with a pair of men to buy a car in Middle Island on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.

The man met up with the pair at about 9:15 p.m. and one waved a knife at him before the pair took off with his wallet containing cash, according to police. The man complained of minor scrapes, swelling, and pain, police said, but it is not clear if he required medical attention.

About at hour later, police arrested Reginald Warner, 30, of Middle Island, at Route 25 and Erna Drive in Coram, and charged him with first-degree robbery, police said. A temporary order of protection has been issued and Warner has been ordered held with $7,000 bond or $10,000 cash bail, according to online court records. As of Friday, Warner had not yet posted bail, records show.
