Man Who Stole Catalytic Converter Arrested In Suffolk: Police
Someone saw a man stealing their neighbor's catalytic converter and called 911, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A Medford man who stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked outside of a Shirley home on Monday morning was arrested, Suffolk police said.
A Decator Avenue resident called 911 when they saw Jason Labbe, 45, stealing a catalytic converter from a neighbor's 1998 Ford truck around 11:52 a.m., police said.
Labbe fled before the police arrived, but officers found the 2008 minivan matching the vehicle description shortly after on Moriches Middle Island Road in Shirley, police said. Labbe was arrested without incident, police said.

Labbe was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar's tools, and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Labbe was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
