Mastic Beach Man Charged In String Of Suffolk Burglaries: Cops

He was arrested in Patchogue, police say.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A Mastic Beach man was charged with burglarizing a number of Suffolk County businesses since February, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, Richard Greene was arrested Wednesday at 9:45 p.m. on West Main Street in Patchogue and charged with breaking into the businesses in Patchogue and Center Moriches during the past two months.

Greene broke the glass door of Michelangelo Pizzeria, located on Main St. in Center Moriches, on April 8 at 9 p.m., police said. An employee inside the closed business confronted Greene and he fled; the employee followed him and called police and Greene was arrested, police said.

Following an investigation, it was determined that Greene was also responsible for the following incidents, police said:

- the burglary of Sunwave Cleaners, located at on S. Service Road in Patchogue, on Feb. 26 at 11:15 p.m.

- the burglary of Dunkin' Donuts, located on East Main St. in Patchogue, on Feb. 26 at 11:50 p.m.

- criminal mischief at Your Bagel Café, located on Main St. in Center Moriches, on March 4 at 10:05 p.m.

- the burglary of RG Wings, located on Mastic Road in Mastic, on March 3 at 9:30 p.m.

Greene was charged by fifth and seventh squad detectives with four counts of third degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, third degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, and circumventing an interlock device, police said. Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers charged Greene with one count of criminal mischief, police said. He was scheduled for arraignment Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
