Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Suffolk Crash

The 42-year-old crashed into a sedan driven by a teen at an intersection Wednesday evening, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A motorcyclist was critically injured in a Shirley crash Wednesday, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, Dwight Brown, 42, of Mastic Beach, was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when he hit a 2006 Chrysler sedan at the intersection of Flintlock Drive and Propose Road at 6:05 p.m.

Brown, who had been heading south on Propose Road, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue by Shirley Community Ambulance, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. The 18-year-old Shirley driver of the Chrysler and his two passengers were not injured, police said.

Brown did not have a stop sign at the intersection. Police did not say which way the teen driver was heading, but there is a stop sign on Flintlock Drive.

The investigation is continuing; the vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
